Grade 6 Music

6th graders in music class will explore a wide variety of musical styles and practices.  Students will learn the beginnings of music literacy, they will gain a deeper understanding of orchestral instruments, and they will create music using online software!  Students will will learn the building blocks to reading music and they will create their own layering compositions using online composition software.  They will pick a musician or band of their choice and create a presentation about their life and career.  By the end of our 45 days together, it is my hope that I have broadened their understanding of what it means to be a musician and I hope that they are excited to continue exploring music after our class has finished!
