This week, take a 'gander' at the Science World article, 'Canine Compass'. Read the article and complete the activity and questions related to it. Remember to respond using complete sentences! This assignment will be due on FRIDAY, January 15, 2021.

Today we will complete our note slides on 'Plate Tectonics'. When we finish, we will work on completing this week's Science World assignment. If you complete that, there will be a few 'Legends of Learning' games to be played that will make the concepts a bit more understandable.

I am out today so there will not be a formal 'Meet'. Be sure to use the link below to record your attendance for class or you will be marked absent. Today we will continue learning about the mechanism that causes our continents to move! Please remember to complete your assignment and submit before the end of the day!

Today we will begin our study of Plate Tectonics and examine how the theory of continental drift fits into it. To start today, we will complete an EdPuzzle from the Discovery Channel movie, '100 Greatest Earth Science Discoveries'. When that is completed, we will roll into plate tectonics by completing the WATCH IT & READ IT stations.

PLEASE NOTE: We have a Science World article, 'Canine Compass', reading and response activity that will be due on Friday. You will find the assignment under the title SCIENCE WORLD. At any time this week, if you finish what we are working on during class, you may work on that assignment.

Today we will continue to look at Continental Drift, 'Explore It, Organize It and Watch It'.....we will not have the 'Science Speaks' today as we will instead take a look at CNN10.

Today, we took a look at the "Joke of the Week", a glimpse of CNN10 and a fun-stem challenge: making two different origami creations!
Please make sure you have completed slide 2 of your STEM CHALLENGE: Origami Creation, created 2 DIFFERENT origami selections and uploaded your video of them on Flipgrid below.

Ah, how good are your problem-solving skills? Were you able to build a paper airplane that flew far? Did you challenge yourself with one of the more difficult airplanes? Today, we are going to tackle another challenge--building a musical instrument!

Today we will be doing the PAPER AIRPLANE STEM CHALLENGE. You can choose any paper airplane you wish to make--challenge yourself and do something more difficult than the basic average paper airplane! Record your design, materials and how far it travels on your design sheet. Take a video of your airplane flying and upload it to Flipgrid, using the link on your assignment page.

Today, you will begin an activity using the PhET website. Once you use the link below to access the site, you will use the slides to guide you through the activity. Please make sure to read all directions and answer the questions on each slide.

You will go to the Colorado pHet website and begin the introduction to 'Acids and Bases' (I attached a picture below so you can see what it looks like). As you play the interactive game, 'Alien Juice Bar', complete the chart and activities to go along with it (attached below). You may get the message that 'Adobe Flash' is blocked. You may have to go into your settings to unblock it OR right click on the blocked symbol in your browser and click 'allow'. If you can't figure out how to do that, ask in our CLASS Google Hangout--trust me, one of your classmates will know how to do it! ;)

NOTE: Today's science quote comes from the woman who invented Kevlar. Kevlar is a man-made material that is lightweight and extremely strong and is mostly used in bulletproof vests used by police and the military.
