American Sign Language Club
The American Sign Language Club is a language learning club for those who desire to be more inclusive to the deaf and hard of hearing community. This is a place to learn a new language, have fun, and be creative!! This club will be facilitated by 7th grader Kara Parker and 2 teacher advisers, Christina Watson and Adriana Moore.
In the spring 2021, 70+ students joined the club and we met virtually every other Thursday. During this time, we learned how to sign foods, colors, our names, phrases like how are you? what is your name?, and more! The students were excited and engaged at every meeting. Our future plans include collaborating with Marie H Katzenbach State School for the Deaf, and giving students and opportunity to apply what they have learned by connecting with deaf and hard of hearing students.
