Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year...I look forward to a wonderful journey together~
In Language Arts, reading and writing are combined on a daily basis. Through whole class novels and literature circle experiences, students will focus on inferring information and making predictions using their prior knowledge. Small group/cooperative group learning discussions lead to whole class discussions which allow students to get the richest possible experience as they read.
Students are encouraged to read for 15 minutes each night in addition to their regular homework assignment.
Writer's Workshop is done throughout the year. Writing partnerships are formed to enable students to focus on their own individual strengths and weaknesses through peer and teacher conferencing.
Students are assessed largely through their completed writing tasks and through completed projects in response to literature. Many of these projects ask students to think outside of the box through artistic interpretations.
My goal is to build a community where high social and academic standards are established.
~TOGETHER WE CAN HELP OUR STUDENTS SUCCEED~
